Charity Efforts/Events

Every year the fans who visit GerardButler.Net donate so much to help support the costs of running this website, we always had funds left over to donate to charity. Over the last two years, we expanded our charity efforts to include campaigns for Valentine’s Day and Gerard’s Birthday along with regional and international events. We are extremely proud of the willingness of our visitors to contribute to a wide range of charities across the globe.

Click here for a look at what charities have benefited from the generosity of Gerard’s fans.

As of April 10, 2008, Gerard’s fans have raised over $263,116.78 for a variety of charitable causes!!

CHARITIES GERARD SUPPORTS

While GB.Net supports many, many charities worldwide, a common question from visitors are about the charities Gerry himself supports. The two charities below are supported by Gerry. One is based in the United Kingdom and the other in the United States.

Kids Kicking Cancer

KIDS KICKING CANCER (US)

Kids Kicking Cancer was founded by Rabbi/Professor Elimelech Goldberg, who is both a black belt in the martial arts and a father who lost his first child to cancer in 1983. He is also a Clinical Asst. Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Wayne State University Medical School. Rabbi G (as he is fondly called by his students) created the Kids Kicking Cancer program after serving for 12 years as the Director of a New York based summer camp for children with cancer.

By focusing its program around the healing themes of martial arts training, KKC not only strengthens children physically, but also teaches them to tap into the inner light of their spiritual self - a focus that generates incredible power, energy and internal strength. The inner spirit or soul of each child is viewed as the defining element of the child, rather than the body or the tumor that has invaded the child’s body. Instead of emphasizing all the things that pediatric cancer patients cannot do, KKC focuses on all the things they can do. The goal of KKC is to help children with serious disease to heal, while empowering them physically, spiritually and emotionally.

CLIC Sargent

CLIC SARGENT (UK)

CLIC Sargent is the UK’s leading children’s cancer charity. We provide the widest range of services and the highest number of care professionals to look after children and young people with cancer and their families. Our services are tailored to family-needs, using feedback from our service-users.

As advocates we give children, young people and their families a strong national voice, helping them to be heard and understood. Our research looks at ways of improving treatment and managing side-effects, to help patients and to improve quality of life for survivors.

CLIC Sargent was formed in 2005 after a successful merger between CLIC and Sargent Cancer Care for Children. Both had a rich history of excellent care and support and together we are stronger and more effective providing more for more children and young people with cancer and their families.

Below you will find a history of charitable efforts to date, both in Gerard’s honor and the efforts of individual fans.
