Dear Gerry!
As you see, a lot of good people wrote you letters, messages or comments, whatever we call. I can’t believe it. I mean, I never felt so much love with reading comments in a website adressed for a famous actor. They all feel a kind of love, maybe for some of your parts, maybe the whole person without even knowing you. Maybe these wishes will never be read by you, maybe you don’t even know they exist, but I hope, you feel it. I hope sometimes you visit this page, and see how many people support your happiness, your succes, your personal gladness. Hi Gerard, hope you had a happy 40th birthday. Welcome to the big 40. It’s not so bad.
I have read that you worry about losing your accent. So far I have had three! I still call football soccer, say ja instead of yeah but have finally started calling pants trousers as people looked at me oddly! I lived in different places in the UK then moved to South Africa, so where are my roots? I now work with people who are from all over the UK with different accents so not sure how that will affect my accent!
Lovely to see you visiting UK, you should visit more often! US can’t have you all the time!
It is a pleasure to watch your movies and you bring something special to each character you play. My favourite is PS I Love You but it makes me cry every time!

I had only seen Mrs Brown up until a few months ago and decided to buy 300 for my brother, watching just that one film i was hooked. If I am not wrong I was the entry nº 646..last year…I am not sure. I just want to say thank you to this great actor. It’s just because of him that I have seen my
dream come true. The story I was trying to get published in November last year is finally going to see the light. “You write the ending” not only will be in the bookshops in March 2010, but also has been awarded with a national prize for new writers in my country. You achieved your goal. So did I. Time will tell if those goals will get together in a early future. Who knows…???Gerard Butler turning “You write the ending” into a script and playing the role of the main character…
I told you last year that your best role was yet to come. Well, maybe this is one of them. A spanish actor and producer who is living in L.A. will have a copy in his hands in March and he will get in touch with you or Alan Siegel. So, get ready, Gerard.

Love your movies, but you have impressed the most by your dedication to charity. It is so nice to see people like you take the time to think about the sick children. I have lost both of my parents at 45 but there is nothing like seeing a child sick and dying. God Bless you and I hope you have 100 more healthy, happy birthdays. If you are ever in Louisiana, please contact me, I would love to be a part of this charity campaign. I will personally assist your campaign with a fundraiser in my state. It is a no brainer to give a fundraiser here, we have the best food – crawfish, catfish, alligator, oysters, crabs, shrimp – you name it. My heart goes out to all the sick children and i pray for them every day.

From what I’ve read and heard you say in interviews, about who you were before you became an actor and the man you are now is truly an inspiration. when I heard you talk about how you were miserable and drinking all the time back when you were a lawyer and how you realized that you needed to make changes in your life and how you did just that by taking a leap of faith and following your heart to become who you are today inspired me to make changes in my life. I had a time in my life where I was miserable and drinkin and when I heard about what you went thru and what you did to change it , it inspired me and gave courage to stop what I was doing and make changes in my life. I have seen you grow tremendously as an actor and I think you are doing an excellent job. I have seen many of your movies, including Law Abiding Citizen, and I think you are going to be very successful. WELCOME TO THE 4-0 CLUB!!!! I’m 41 and Baby, it ain’t nothin’ but a number! I became a fan when I saw “The Ugley Truth” and have since tried to see all of your movies, past and present. I’m a big chicken, so I confess that I did hide inside my jacket during parts of “Gamer” and “Law Abiding Citizen”. Wish I could think of something to tell you that hasn’t already been said. Seriously, I hope that you have a wonderful birthday. You seem like a very genuine and down to earth person and I pray that you stay that way. May God continue to bless you with health and success. I’m also becoming a supporter of Kids Kicking Cancer. I lost my brother to cancer 2 years ago, and though he was 50 when he passed, I can’t imagine what it would be like to lose a child to cancer. My husband and 8 year old son got their black belts in Tae Kwon Do this passed summer and it was one of the proudest moments for me as a mom (and wife). I want other moms to be able to feel that same pride. Thank you for supporting this cause. I hate cancer, and pray that one day it will be a thing of the past.

I work at a retail store and was the first one to pull the plastic wrap off the display for “The Ugly Truth” DVD. I got so excited about seeing your picture on the front of the display, that I started dancing and tripped on the plastic. I ended up on my bum and started laughing. Yes, there were people around so it was embarrassing. Anywho, I get that picture when the display box is removed from the retail floor. Well worth my sore bum! LOL.

Just wanted to say how much I enjoy watching your movies. I love how each one is different from the one before and great in it’s own way.
I also wanted to let you know how awesome it was to meet you in NYC after SNL! That completely made my day and well my niece still can’t stop talking about it. She was so nervous and excited, she could hardly believe we got to meet you. It was so cool to share hat experience with her. So thanks for making it so memorable!
) My only regret from that night was that my new camera didn’t work as well as I had hoped and the picture you took with us got messed up and half your gorgeous face was blurred by too much flash 
( Kinda looks like the Phantom though (kinda funny). Well, hopefully we’ll be able to see you again sometime and get a better one.
It was so cool of you to take the time to sign autographs and take pictures with all your fans. Especially since you could’ve easily jumped into the car that was parked way behind everyone and gotten away without anyone noticing. Gerry. I have been a fan of yours since I saw you in POTO. I couldn’t let this most important 40th birthday go by without wishing you a super fun filled birthday over there in Scotland. It is perfect that you can be there with your family and friends, when as we say here in the USA, you are finally “over the hill”. Only kidding. You will never be any older, if you stay as sexy as you are now. Honestly, I am about your Mum’s age, and I couldn’t be more proud of you than if you were one of my sons. Wherever you will be on your birthday, I know you will be laughing and having fun!
I have been a movie and music fan for most of my life and I’m 45 now. I have loved so many of the great actors and just getting to know about them in a small way has always been a fun hobby for me.
I have always been a big fan of Scottish actors especially, so much so that I named my son Sean after Sean Connery. The Highlander was one of my first favorite movies of all time back in those days. My point in saying all of this is that I want you to know that you really give me goosebumps, and I cannot stop smiling nor daydreaming. I’ve got it really bad. You really have moved me, not only in your film roles, but also in listening to you on different talk shows and interviews. You really have a WONDERFUL and FAB personality and I am just totally thrilled to see what an awesome smile, spirit, soul, and passion that you have for life, your work, and your Mom. It really SHINES!!!
Although I will never get to meet you, I would be lying if I said that I would not love to meet you
because life would end as I know it……:-)
I will remain one of your most loyal and loving fans always, and I will be looking forward to seeing anything and everything that you are a part of! (i.e. I loved you on SNL, you were over the top great, but I love you in P.S. I love you, 300, and many others.

I don’t normally do things like this, but I have to wish a happy birthday to THE BOTH of us! How crazy is it that we share the same birthday? Well, not that crazy – considering there are only 365 days in a year, but it was pretty cool to find out that my favorite actor had the same birthday as me! I’m turning 20 on the day you turn 40, but that doesn’t ruin our chances for love right?

I have only one little bit of advice for you — one thing that I read that you were concerned about. Your accent. I saw you with Craig Ferguson recently. And like two Southerners who come together and their drawls become more pronounced, the more you talked the more Scottish the two of you sounded. Don’t worry about it. Just go home from time to time, and hang out with other Glaswegians. You will gain back your accent in no time.

Well, I’m 2 years older than you and just have to say that you look alot better than me at your age, already.
In fact, I would say that you look better than alot of 40 year olds and you have accomplished so much in your 40 years. It must hard work to be ranked the 1 movie star in the world. I know of some real good anti-aging remedies if you ever need any help. From the Phantom, to Beowulf, Nim’s Island, The Ugly Truth, and to Law Abiding Citizen you’ve given us hours of enjoyment and entertainment. In fact, I was in the hospital for 1 week with a relative and we watched The Phantom almost the whole time because it lifted us up with the beautiful music and scenery. Needless to say, I LOVE YOUR WORK and please enjoy yourself on your special day and know that we are always cheering you along your way. XO

First off, I have to say, that you’re an amazing actor! You were able to play Atilla and Leonidas, two of my favorite characters in world history, and tell us a story about their lives, about them as people, not iconic figures. The movie 300 was especially sentimental to me, because of what the spartans gave to give the future generations freedom from the Persians. Seeing everyone around me in the movie theater cheer for King Leonidas and his men, as well as cry when they gave their lives…it was very special. I want to thank you for portraying the role as well as you did.
And I love how a fellow countryman has made it so far in the world. It makes me feel as if I could actually do something great.
Secondly, I want to wish you a very happy birthday! With all the work you’ve done, you deserve a good time. I wish you the best of fun, and hope everything goes fantastic for you.
