Comedy legend Dick Van Dyke is now in town for his role in the biggest movie to be made here in some time.
Van Dyke was recently spotted at Vancouver film studios on the set of the $140-million comedy A Night At The Museum. He was spied enjoying himself at a private in studio get-together, which included the film's star, Ben Stiller. Also set to join the cast are Robin Williams and Mickey Rooney.
Another high-profile movie is starting production in Hollywood North.
The crime thriller Butterfly On a Wheel, starring Pierce Brosnan is expected to lens here through spring. It's the story of a brutal kidnapper that terrorizes the perfect family. Scottish actor Gerard Butler (The Phantom Of The Opera) will costar, along with the lovely Maria Bello of Coyote Ugly fame. Bello has worked in Vancouver before with roles in the feature flick Duets with Gwyneth Paltrow, and in an episode of the TV series The Commish with Michael Chiklis.
Those wacky Wayans brothers are wrapping up another "keep it in the family" comedy here.
Little Man, which stars Shawn and Marlon Wayans, is also written and directed by older brother Keenan Ivory. It's the implausible story of a confused dad that mistakes a vertically challenged criminal as his adopted son. The Wayans clan was also here two years ago shooting the forgettable comedy White Chicks which gave us Shawn and Marlon in drag. Keenan Ivory and Marlon were recently spotted celebrating in Yaletown. Let's hope their latest Vancouver project is more successful than the last!
