MODEL and TV star Catalina Guirado enjoyed a passionate romance with the heart-throb actor and Tomb Raider star Gerard Butler.
The pair met in Hollywood last November and indulged in an intense four-month affair, the Sunday Mirror can reveal.
Catalina - who has enjoyed a renaissance in her career since starring in I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here - believed she had found the man of her dreams in the handsome Scottish actor.
But Butler, 34, called time on the relationship in March, leaving the stunning Catalina devastated. During her time in the Australian Outback with other celebrities a month later, Catalina was seen crying about a lost love.
She refused to divulge to fellow stars who it was who had broken her heart during her time in the jungle. But now it can be told - that Catalina, who first rose to fame on Chris Evans' TFI Friday show, was still coming to terms with being ditched by Butler.
A friend of the star confessed: "Catalina was absolutely smitten with Gerard. She really believed he was the one. She was quite devastated when he called off their romance."
Catalina has been linked to a string of celebrities in the past including Buffy The Vampire Slayer's David Boreanaz, Jack Osbourne and actor Nick Moran of Lock Stock And Two Smoking Barrels fame.
But it was the smoothly spoken Scottish hunk who won her heart.
After meeting at a showbiz party hosted by fellow Brit actor Damian Lewis in Los Angeles in November, they started a four-month romance.
They would see each other once or twice a week to indulge in their passionate relationship. But it petered out in March when, according a close friend of the beauty, Gerard stopped calling her.
The friend added: "Catalina was absolutely distraught. It was him she was crying for when she broke down on I'm A Celebrity. She was so hung up on him."
During the show, the model tearfully revealed: "I have cried so much over men. I used to go on all day drinking binges to get over them."
And she hinted at the romance with thespian Gerard, which finished a month before I'm A Celebrity, when she said: "Actors are... urrggh. They need to have more substance."
Catalina is now on holiday in Los Angeles.
Meanwhile, Glasgow-born Butler is a fully-fledged Hollywood box-office name.
As well as starring alongside Angelina Jolie in the new Tomb Raider movie The Cradle Of Life, the 6ft 2in actor has landed a much-coveted part.
It's the lead in a film version of Phantom of the Opera - whose director Joel Schumacher calls him "the Scottish Colin Farrell".
A spokeswoman for Gerard said last night that the actor - who is in Brazil filming - "can't remember meeting Catalina".
