I don't know what it is about this man, but everytime I see him in a movie or magazine, I turn to mush; can't talk, bang into walls, the whole bit. I can't fathom it. Of all the Hottie's I've profiled on here, this one is by far the man who just does it for me. Perhaps it is the Celtic connection we have; he is a Scotsman who stirs my Scottish blood.
However, I think it runs deeper than that. I discovered Gerry a few years ago in the movie Dear Frankie, a story about a single mother with a deaf boy who hires Gerry's character to play the boy's father for a day. The mother and he end up falling for each other. It was a quiet little movie with a beautiful story and Gerry's character was particularly moving. His portrayal of a strong, sensitive male knocked my socks off. It was everything I ever wanted in a guy and maybe that kind of man is only found in the movies, but it sure gave me something to think about.
In watching Gerry's work, I feel the passion he brings to each character and know that he's invested himself wholly into giving the viewer the full range of emotion required for each role he does. That investment is guaranteed to stir the viewer and make any performance Gerry does a standout.
I honestly do not know what it is, but this man genuinely moves me with his work. I can literally feel it deep inside and it stays with me long after I walk out of the theater or turn the DVD player off. He is the only actor who has ever made me react like that.
I plan on seeing Gerry's latest movie, 300, the story of the last stand of 300 Spartans at the battle of Thermopylae. It is said this is his best movie yet and the one that's going to catapault him into stardom. I look forward to it, and to more of his work.
