Well what can I say about an epic poem like Beowulf? I can say that this little gem from 2005 starring Gerard Butler and Stellan Skarsgård is extremely good. I highly recommend this film to anyone who is a fan of either the poem itself or the film The 13th Warrior.

Sturla Gunnarsson does an interesting thing with this film, he creates real people that just happen to live in 500 a.d. Denmark and just happen to be at odds with one another. I don't want to give to much away but Gunnarsson certainly presents Grendel in a new and interesting way. Beowulf is a troubled hero who is unsure about what hes doing, Hrothgar is the noble, but not quite so noble, king who has incurred Grendel's wrath.

All together that film is beautifully shot and well acted. A fine piece of film making that you should pick up if your in the mood for a damn good story.
