LOCAL firies had their five minutes of fame last week during filming of Nim's Island.
The Cudgen Fire Brigade was on hand to supply water for a rain scene, but as the Coast was hit by wild weather, it seemed their services weren't required after all.
But the good old firies loaned a truck just in case, with the crew's rain-making equipment able to connect with the tanker to make rain.
And local volunteer lifesavers didn't want to miss out either. They also headed to Fingal's old quarry for the filming. They were on standby in case anyone from the movie got into trouble with the wild seas.
Onlookers would have noticed film crews take over much of the Fingal boat harbour parklands, local roads and the old quarry as they filmed recently.
Nim's Island features Jodie Foster and Abigail Breslin, and tells the story of a girl who lives on an isolated island with her scientist father.
