As usual, I watched a movie with my friend Tina at same place, GB3. We decided between American Gangster and P.S. I Love You after we played Dance Maniax at TimeZone. Now you get the picture of our routine. Obviously we chose the latter because other than the fact that we are self-confessed both hopeless romatics(a.k.a mushy), I insisted that we watch it because I've been wanting to read the book. Another friend already told me that the movie's not that good because it's too ma-drama. I didn't believe it...and good thing that I didn't because overall it was good, well for my standards maybe.
It stars one of my fave actresses, Hilary Swank and Gerard Butler(of the movie-300 fame). P.S. I Love You was set in New York City and revolved around Holly(Swank) who was moving on after his husband, Gerry(Butler) died because of brain tumor. Ironically, it was him who helped her move on by leaving her a series of letters that came with tasks. You'll know in the end how a dead man was able to do it. I thought it was going to be an all-out tearjerker but it actually had lots of funny moments too. The flick has several "quotable quotes". Here's one that I struck me the most:
Gerry: "What do you want? I know what I want, cause I'm holding it in my hands. "
He said that when they were arguing whether or not they should have a baby, if they should save first for a bigger apartment...the usual marital arguments, you get the picture. By the end of the movie I was already crying hard but I was trying to stop it so I was making that I-cant-breathe-my-heart-is-aching sound and yes, to the point that I had a runny nose. I can hear and feel other couples crying as well. I just love to cry. I'm planning to buy a DVD of the movie.
