BASED on the best-selling novel from Cecelia Ahern and starring Hilary Swank as a grieving widow who is receiving letters and presents from her dead husband. Nothing spooky involved, he knew he was dying from a brain tumour and wrote a series of letters before he died and arranged for them to be sent to his wife in order to help her pick up the pieces of her life and move on without him.
I didn't really find Swank convincing, either as the ditzy wife or the grieving widow, and Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe in Friends) attempts to imitative the character she made famous in the show, but fails to pull it off.
Gerard Butler, is the husband, and we get to see quite a bit of him as there are lots of flashbacks, plays the charming, laid-back Irishman to perfection.
P.S I Love You, has all the credentials, good actors, great scenery, unusual storyline to be a great film, but Swank fails to deliver. Still worth a watch, but place this one in the chit flick, night in with my girls category.
