Hamish Clark Actor, 34 Lives Remote village of Newtonmore while filming Monarch of the Glen or London.

Who he? Although hailing from Broughty Ferry, Clark studied at the Welsh College of Music and Drama. After appearing in a couple of feature films, he is better known as the face of Vodafone or as the angst-ridden Duncan from the BBC's popular Sunday night drama.

Pluses A right good laugh and a good jig round the dance floor. His on-screen character may be unlucky in love but Clark is more successful in real life. He can also show you round the picturesque Ardverikie Estate and Loch Laggan in his classic, white, convertible MG. Minuses A bit touchy about the ad work which earned him a fortune, so don't ask him to get you a deal on a mobile.

Derek Marshall Chef, 34

Lives Glasgow

Who he? The man behind one of Galsgow's best, most, consistently brlliant restaurants, Gamba, winnner of a prestigious Restaurant of the Year award, two years running. Marshall has worked his way through some of the best restaurants, earning a reputation as one of the country's best chefs.

Conquests: Very single after several disappointing flings Minuses: It's difficult to have a social life when you are a busy chef. When you do get him out, no restaurant will be up to his standards. Also he is known for his cheek and sarcasm. So beware

Do say: Do you fancy getting a bite at Nobu (his favourite restaurant).

Pluses Frequent gym workouts mean he's sporting a great six pack.

Lives Glasgow's leafy West End.

Who he? Interest in accountancy began at Edinburgh University. He is now Head of Corporate Recovery at the Glasgow office of international accountants KPMG. Nimmo was acting liquidator for Airdrie Football Club and responsible for dealing with the liquidation of Big Beat but says his best job ever was working as a Saturday boy in a sports shop.

Conquests One ex wife, several girlfriends since the divorce.

Haunts Any good restaurant. Nimmo loves fine dining and excellent wine.

Minuses Supports Falkirk football club.

Pluses Tall, dark, handsome and smart - what more could you want?

Stefan King Lives Glasgow.

Businessman, 38

Who he? Fast becoming Scotland's answer to Donald Trump, with a string of residential properties and an impressive list of bars, restaurants and nightclubs in Glasgow, including Babaza, The Polo Lounge, Cafe Latte and Gong. Has recently acquired the Big Beat bars and is also renovating the old George Square GPO building.

Conquests Apart from an over-publicised relationship with Eighties F-list singer Sinitta, there's little to tell. Fiercely private, King is married to his work.

Minuses When a man is this obsessive about his work, relationships take a permanent back seat.

Topher Nairn Restaurateur, 41 Lives Lake of Menteith.

Who he? The (slightly) younger brother of chef and Scottish food ambassador Nick Nairn, with whom he owns their Glasgow restaurant and the Nairns Cook School. The hotel which was once above the restaurant is being converted into three flats which are due for sale. He also owns luxury chalets on the lakeside with his sister and brother in-law.

Conquests Very much a single boy on the lookout for the perfect lady. Says he has his eye on someone though.

Haunts In the West End of Glasgow - Firebird and Stravaigin are favourites - or on his motorbike heading up to a Stirling Albion match.

Minuses Feigning interest in Albion.

Don't say My, what a big loch you have. It's a lake. The only lake in Scotland.

Pluses A romantic dinner followed by a motorbike trip to one of his sumptuous waterside properties.

Gerry Butler Actor, 33 Lives London, and Glasgow, when he can get back.

Who he? A one-time solicitor who decided to call it a day in the legal world and try his hand at acting. Females all over the country are still thankful that this gamble paid off. His first big break in films was appearing as Billy Connolly's younger brother in the indie hit Mrs Brown. Next he went on to make One Last Kiss and most recently bared his beautiful fangs as the star of Dracula 2001. Watch for him on the big screen in the new Michael Crichton special, Timeline.

Haunts Either at Air Organic or at MAS nightclub whenever he's visiting Glasgow. You'll always see him nursing a soft drink, as he is teetotal.

James Thomson Restaurateur, 40-ish Lives Edinburgh.

Who he? The man who helped put Edinburgh on the worldwide culinary map, he's owner of two great restaurants, long-standing favourite, The Witchery and the more recently opened Tower restaurant. When Thomson opened The Witchery in 1979, he became Scotland's youngest licensee. You can work his age out for yourself.

Conquests A very private man whose relationships are a closely guarded secret. Still, Thomson has no shortage of potential suitors.

Pluses This man has exquisite taste. Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber named The Witchery the prettiest restaurant ever and infamous Times food critic AA Gill decreed The Tower to be the hottest table in Scotland's capital.

Minuses With such high standards, this man is likely to keep you on your toes.

Mating call Do culinary Olympics count?

Taylor Ferguson Jun Accountant, 29 Lives Outskirts of Glasgow.

Who he? This former Kelvinside Academy student and Glasgow University graduate could easily have entered the family hairdressing business but he prefers to do the number-crunching instead. As an employee of big five firm Arthur Andersen, his job takes him all over the UK.

Conquests Single. No names mentioned.

Mating call "Let's go shopping." From Jean Paul Gaultier man-skirts to Vivienne Westwood creations, this boy loves to spend spend spend.

Pluses Not just a pretty face. Taylor Jun also has his own Scotland-wide property portfolio and a very sleek black Mercedes.

Minuses Regular games of five-a-side football with former school pals and a passion for keeping up with new developments in his chosen field. Yawn. But worst of all, you'll never be excused for having a bad hair day.

Tim Maguire Commercials director & PR, 46 Lives Edinburgh's New Town.

Who he? This busy man is an award-winning commercials director and also runs his own marketing and PR company. In the rare moments when Maguire's not working, you'll find him zooming around the country on his motorbike or at home cooking up a storm.

Conquests Currently single. Has had a couple of serious relationships in recent years, but there's no significant other half to speak of at the moment.

Haunts In The Edinburgh Club or at the hottest new restaurant in town, Rogue. He'd go anyway, but it's actually part of the job, since he does their PR. You'll also spot him at a variety of openings, premieres and parties.

Who he? Maloney is proving himself to be one of Scotland's brightest young players. Most recently he scored an impressive 50 per cent of Celtic's goals when they thrashed their hapless adversaries Stirling Albion 8-0. Having lived here since he was five, Shaun considers himself a true Scot.
