Bad boys finish first? Steve Santagati, a Tewksbury native and the real-life inspiration behind the Gerard Butler character in the upcoming flick “The Ugly Truth,” believes so and is on a mission to inspire men to be men again and women to be pro-active in the romance department.

His story inspired the film “The Ugly Truth,” hitting theaters on Friday, July 24.

In the flick, Katherine Heigl from “Grey’s Anatomy” is Abby Richter, a romantically challenged morning show producer whose search for Mr. Perfect has left her hopelessly single. She's in for a rude awakening when her bosses team her with Gerard Butler’s Mike Chadway, a hardcore TV personality who promises to spill the ugly truth on what makes men and women tick.
