Today’s the day that a new range of limited-edition red and white stripy socks go on sale exclusively at Sainsbury’s to help raise money for Sport Relief 2010. And some of the nation’s best-loved celebrities couldn’t wait to sport their pair.
Modelled by Girls Aloud star Sarah Harding, Hollywood actor Gerard Butler, singing diva Dame Shirley Bassey and TV icon Jeremy Clarkson, the Sport Relief Socks are the ideal accessory for anyone in training to rise to the challenge for this year’s campaign.
As Gerard Butler comments, “Everyone can do their bit by buying these Sport Relief Socks, perfect for putting your feet up and relaxing, or for sprinting to the finish line at one of the Sport Relief Mile events!”.
The Socks are priced at £2 a pair, with at least £1 going to Sport Relief, to help people living unimaginably tough lives both in the UK and across the world’s poorest countries.
Available in a range of sizes for adults and kids, they contain Fairtrade Certified Cotton ensuring small-scale cotton farmers in developing countries receive a better deal from trade and can improve their livelihoods.
Teachers can also bulk buy socks for their whole school with the Sock Deposit Scheme. It means schools pay a small deposit now for a set of socks and then simply pay the balance once they’ve sold them all at school.
As well as selling the Sport Relief Socks, you can also find the official Sport Relief T-shirt, Wristband, Phone Sock, Bouncy Balls and Water Bottle in Sainsbury’s stores across the UK – so get shopping and help to change lives.
