Gerard Butler had no idea his Wimbledon selfie with Bradley Cooper would cause such a stir.

Shunning Suki Waterhouse who was sitting to his right, Cooper cosied up to Butler for a quick self-portrait as they watched Andy Murray’s Wimbledon victory on Sunday afternoon, and with their tender moment caught on camera, Twitter was soon abuzz.

Asked at the Novak Djokovic Foundation gala dinner if he knew their pally snap had gone viral, Butler said yesterday: ‘I don’t know what you’re talking about. I don’t go on the internet, so I don’t know what [a selfie] is.’

The dishy star did however insist that their matching suits were simply an ’embarrassing’ coincidence.

He explained: ‘Bradley and I are friends. [The matching outfits] was coincidence. It was a little embarrassing. We didn’t mention it at the time.

‘We gave each other a hug, then looked down and went, ‘Oh, s**t’.’

But Entourage star Jeremy Piven, who was also at the men’s singles final, definitely approved.

‘They were wearing powder blue outfits, they looked like they were groomsmen – they are the dream.’ he added.
