The rights to the Malaysian premiere of the much-touted screen adaptation from Andrew Lloyd Webber's most famous Broadway musical, "The Phantom Of The Opera", has been secured by Nestle (Malaysia) Berhad. The premiere, which coincidently will be on the same date as the UK premiere, is to be held for the cause of charity in conjunction with trying to raise funds for the National Child Friendly Healthcare Association in Malaysia.

A press conference was held today at GSC Midvalley Megamall in anticipation of the event. The National Child Friendly Healthcare Association in Malaysia is an association dedicated to addressing issues pertaining to acquiring a child friendly healthcare facility. They seek to develop a child-sensitive approach that recognises the special psycho-social, development and physical needs of a child. The association is also pushing hard in the building of a special children hospital in Malaysia.

The screening, which will be held on 10 December at GSC Midvalley Megamall, will be attended by the patroness of the Association, YABhg Datin Paduka SeriSeri Endon Mahmood, wife of the Prime Minister of Malaysia. Organised by Nestle (Malaysia) Berhad with NESCAFE GOLD as title presenter, they hope to raise RM 40,000 from the ticket sales of the premiere. Tickets are being sold for a minimum contribution of RM50 per ticket and bookings can be made by calling Nestle at (03) 7965 6333 every Monday to Friday from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. Payments can be made in cash or crossed cheque payable to Nestle Products Sdn Bhd.
