British actress EMILY MORTIMER was too protective of her unborn baby to mix with her DEAR FRANKIE co-stars off-set - even though her anti-social attitude turned her into an outcast.
Mortimer - whose character runs away from her husband with their young son in the film - often spent her days alone on the movie set, because she didn't devote any time to forming close friendships with her co-stars.
However, far from recalling the experience with sadness, Mortimer - who was heavily pregnant at the time - credits her loneliness with inspiring her performance.
The 33-year-old says, "I just couldn't cope with going out at night after work, and, as a result, I was quite cut off. But Lizzie has cut herself off from the world, such is her fear of being discovered, so I think my isolation mirrored hers.
I also had these odd moments of feeling weirdly disconnected. Sitting on the set and watching everyone running around and thinking, 'God, what is all the fuss about? This is so unimportant in the scheme of things.'"
