How does it feel losing to a woman in a fight?

To be honest, I don't give a shit about being beaten by a woman. And the flirtiness and sexual tension between Angelina and me in the movie, I had no problem!

That kissing scene must have been fun.

Well, that certainly didn't hurt me. Yeah, it was fun.

What surprised you the most working with Angelina?

Just how cool and easy she was-she has no attitude. She's very real, charming, fun, open, and a great person to have a conversation with.

Anything else?

And she is on time! I'm a terrible one for getting out of my dressing room, when it is time to start.

You're probably already famous in your native Scotland, but are you prepared for worldwide fame?

I think I am more famous anywhere but Scotland. Everybody keeps saying, "Who is Gerard Butler that they keep saying is doing well in Hollywood?" I tend to look completely different in every movie. No body knows me.

So, your not recognized on the street?

Here's an example: I go into this shop in London all the time. After a few years the owner says, "What do you do?" I said, "I'm an actor." He'd seen every movie that I have ever done and didn't recognize me from any of them. I don't know if it's a bad thing or not. At least people don't say, "Oh, look at Gerry Butler, he's got his finger up his nose!" This job is very different for me because I used to be a lawyer.

Were you good at it?

No, not really. I was really desperately unhappy to be honest.

Are you in a relationship right now?

We hear that actors get more women than lawyers?

Yeah? I wonder when that'll start happening.

At least if you were a lawyer, you wouldn't have to do all those crappy jobs that many struggling actors have to do...

I didn't do those jobs, but I am not saying being a lawyer isn't a crappy job.

What motivates you?

Fear and success.

You have landed the starring role in the movie version of the upcoming Phantom of the Opera. Can you sing?

Yeah, I can sing, but I am not trained. I had to take classes for that.

Is there any dancing in the Phantom of the Opera?

I don't have to dance do I? Get my agent on the phone! Youre scaring me!
