The horror film is being directed by Andrew Douglas, who helmed the 2005 remake of The Amityville Horror (which starred Ryan Reynolds).

The story follows a warrior priest who disobeys the church law by teaming with a sheriff and a priestess to track down a band of renegade vampires who have kidnapped his niece. The "vampire western" is based on a Tokyopop graphic novel created by Min-Woo Hyung. The screenplay was adapted by newcomer Cory Goodman.

Butler starred as the Phantom in Joel Schumacher's big screen adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera. His filmography also includes the upcoming adaption of Frank Miller's 300, Beowulf & Grendel, Dear Frankie, Timeline, Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, Reign of Fire, Dracula 2000 and The Cherry Orchard.

Michael De Luca, Sam Raimi, Josh Donen and Mitchell Peck are producing. Raimi is also producing a remake of The Evil Dead, Dibbuk Box, Monkey's Paw, The Man Who Couldn't Forget, The Messengers, Rise and The Grudge 2. And that's just for 206/2007, jeeez, he's a busy guy.

Filming is scheduled to being on October 1st, 2006 in Mexico.
