Mrs Brown movie star Gerry Butler dived into the River Tay and dragged a drowning teenager to safety.
The brave actor leapt into action when he spotted 15-year-old Vincent Copeland struggling to pull his unconscious cousin Daniel Smith from the water.
Gerry, who is playing Billy Connolly's brother in the new film Mrs Brown, jumped in and pulled the boy out.
Daniel, from Millfield, Sunderland, said: "" I never had the chance to thank Mr Buitler so I have sent him a card."
