I finally had the opportunity to see 300 over the weekend. If you are not familiar with the movie, 300 is based on Frank Miller's graphic novel about the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 B.C. It basically illustrates the story of King Leonidas and his courageous Spartan army of 300.

I wanted to see it in the theaters several months ago, but I couldn't talk my wife into it. At any rate, I finally had the privilege on Saturday. By the way, I rented it using RedBox. If you haven't used RedBox, I highly recommend it. It's quick, it's user friendly, and it's cheap. I'm saying goodbye to Netflix and my Hollywood Video rental card.

So what does 300 have to do with presentations? Everything. I found the movie very powerful because of three things:

Innovative
This movie is definitely in it's own league. The visuals are stunning. The colors are beautiful. The effects are fantastic. The director, Zack Synder, did an excellent job. This movie is a great example of thinking outside the box.

Simplicity
The colors are simple. The story is simple. The message is simple. Everything about it screams simplicity - 300 vs. the world. Even the title of the movie shouts simplicity.

Story
As with most great movies, this movie has a narrator - a warrior who fought with King Leonidas. It's a story of courage, heroism, and passion. And, it's a story of an underdog. Plus, it builds tension nicely and you are left with a great discovery moment. .

If you haven't seen it, go rent it today. It's bloody. It's violent. It's heroic.

It's great.
