Warner Home Video's "P.S. I Love You," starring Hilary Swank, topped the national video sales and rental charts its first week in stores, easily beating fellow new release "First Sunday" from Sony.

"P.S. I Love You," which grossed $53.7 million at the boxoffice, bumped Fox's "27 Dresses" to No. 2 on the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart and Home Media Magazine's rental chart. "27 Dresses" topped both charts last week.

"First Sunday," with a boxoffice pedigree of $37.9 million, debuted at No. 3 on both charts.

New Line's "The Golden Compass" was No. 4 on both charts.

On the sales front, "P.S. I Love You" sold nearly twice as many copies as "First Sunday" in its first week. "P.S. I Love You" also generated an estimated $7.2 million in revenue, compared with $5.6 million for "First Sunday."

"27 Dresses" generated an additional $6.1 million in rental revenue to bring its total take after two weeks to $13.4 million, or 17.5% of its theatrical gross.

Fellow sophomore "Golden Compass" took in $5.3 million to bring its total rental haul to $11.8 million, or 16.8% of its theatrical gross.

On the high-definition front, "Twister" was the top-selling Blu-ray Disc release of the week, with "Golden Compass" at No. 2 and "P.S. I Love You" debuting at No. 3.
