HOLLYWOOD actor Gerard Butler has described Scotland as “paradise” while sharing a stunning video of the sun setting on a Scottish beach.

The 47-year-old star shared the video on Facebook late last night (MON) while sat on a picturesque beach in Dumfries and Galloway.

Butler, originally from Glasgow, was taking a moment to himself to read over his lines for up-and-coming new movie, Keepers.

Sat on rocks while the sea can be heard in the background, the Hollywood hunk said: “Welcome to Dumfries and Galloway, near Portpatrick, where I’m shooting my next movie, Keepers.

“It’s about three lighthouse keepers on an island as they all slowly kind of go insane.

Butler then pans the camera round to show the sun setting in the background across the Scottish beach.

While holding up his script, he then adds: “Anyway look at this. It’s so good to be back in Scotland. It’s just paradise.

“We’ve had great weather, we’ve been lucky. Here’s my script, I’ve been learning my lines in crazy land.”

Since being uploaded last night, the video has been viewed more than 524,000 times.

Hundreds of fans have also taken to the post to comment on Butler’s stunning views.

Julie Grech said: “Look forward to the movie with lots of scenes of Scotland.

“The only thing which would be better, is if it was filmed in Yorkshire. Always wanted to live in a lighthouse, thought it would have been amazing. Let’s see after the movie.”

Nicole Penney wrote: “I love how bloody normal you are.

“A List Hollywood movie star and you take the time to visit your home, your family as much as you can and on top of that you try and keep us, your fans, as much as a part of your life off screen as you can.”

And Crystal Mcroberts wrote: “We’re just home from Portpatrick. Missed you at the Crown Hotel, where we stayed.

“I’m sure I saw you walk past the Harbour House, you had your crash helmet on.”

Over the past few weeks he has been photographed, posing up with fans while visiting Dumfries and Galloway.

The Law Abiding Citizen actor was also snapped posing up with two Police Scotland officers last week in between takes.

They posted the photo on the Dumfries and Galloway Police Division Facebook page with a caption reading: “While out Chasing Mavericks we bumped into a Family Man and Law Abiding Citizen who also claims to be a part time Bounty Hunter.

“After a quick chat and photo he headed off to continue filming a new movie. P.S We Love You.”

Other images have been snapped of the star looking rugged and weather-beaten as he continues filming.
