The film shot in St. Louis about the 1950 U.S. World Cup soccer team will premiere in the Midwest April 17 at the AMC Esquire in St. Louis.

"The Game of Their Lives," which tells the story of a group of St. Louis players who defeated England's top-ranked team in the 1950 World Cup, is set to open in limited markets, including St. Louis, April 22.

The crew spent seven weeks in St. Louis in the summer of 2003 shooting the film in various locations, including The Hill neighborhood.

The film was expected to cost $40 million to make and have an economic impact of at least $100 million for the St. Louis area.

"The Game of Their Lives" stars Gerard Butler, Wes Bentley and Patrick Stewart. It was written by Angelo Pizzo and directed by David Anspaugh.
