Thank you to everyone who attended our 2009 Gerard Butler Dot Net Global Birthday Celebration events in Glasgow, Tokyo, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, Seattle and online!! Early reports from Japan, New York and online has our charity total close to $10,000! As the other cities report in we will update that total. Many, many thanks for all your generosity and support. Special thank you to all the online attendees who joined us in GBGF’s chatroom. It was a lot of fun to see old and new names!!
MESSAGES FROM GERRY: Gerry kindly recorded four messages for fans in Tokyo, Glasgow, the US cities and fans who joined online for a virtual celebration. Highlights of the messages included the news that Gerry hopes to return to Japan early next year to promote his films and that the European Law Abiding Citizen premiere will be held in Glasgow (on November 15 – other details coming soon)!! NEXT PROJECT FOR EVIL TWINS? Film School Rejects asked Gerard in a recent interview what was up next for Evil Twins and his response is below:
There’s a few different projects that we’ve been working on, but there’s one in particular – it’s a movie called Slide about a former baseball player who goes back to try and patch things up with his child and estranged wife and ends up coaching the kid’s baseball team. He becomes the subject of fascination and longer by every bored house wife in the town. And it’s him trying to survive that while trying to patch things up with his kid. I think we’re going to have GM direct the movie. Hopefully. We’re in talks with him, and he’s very much up for directing it so we’ll what happens there.

It’s Golden Globe Awards night!!! Gerard will be a presenter at tonight’s Golden Globe Awards, to be aired on NBC at 8:00pm Eastern. Red carpet coverage will be aired live on E! starting at 6:00pm Eastern.  Check back to GB.Net throughout the evening for updates, video and pictures from the evening!
Traditionally, a number of events are held the weekend of the awards to celebrate the years accomplishments and raise money for charity. First up was the annual CAA Pre-Golden Globe party held at The Buffalo Lounge for CAA clients on January 9. Others in attendance included Hilary Swank, Colin Farrell, Jeremy Piven, Harry Connick, Jr., Emmy Rossum, Tom Cruise and Zac Efron. Click the image to the left for more pictures in the gallery.
Last night, Gerard attended The Art of Elysium 2nd Annual Black Tie Charity Gala “Heaven” at Vibiana in Los Angeles. The Art of Elysium is an organization founded in 1997 that encourages working actors, artists and musicians to voluntarily dedicate their time and talent to children who are battling serious medical conditions. They provide artistic workshops in the following disciplines: acting, art, comedy, fashion, music, radio, songwriting and creative writing. Click the picture to the right for more images.

Director Frank Darabont has bowed out of Law Abiding Citizen, but the production is still on track as a seach for a new director goes forward. Production is now tentatively scheduled for December 2008 (source). Read more from Ain’t It Cool News…
